IVE’s First Multicultural Fair a Huge Success What was your favorite part of IVE’s first ever multicultural fair? Enjoying the amazing food home cooked and provided by families of many cultures? Watching the kids move from booth to booth earning stamps and learning a bit about lots of new cultures? Seeing many familiar faces as well as lots of families new to PTA events? What about the fun performances we saw? All of these elements helped make our first ever cultural night a success. From the volunteer effort, to the fabulous leadership of Lucy Zou, to the fun arts and crafts, to the diverse background music, we are so happy with the way our multicultural night turned out. My own personal favorite moment was seeing all of our kids singing “Hello Children” on stage together. What a perfect demonstration of the reason we all do what we do at home, at school and in the PTA. It’s all about the kids. Kristen Walk-A-Thon Reminder Dear Parents, Just a reminder that you and your child(ren) should be out collecting pledges for the upcoming Walk-a-thon which will be held on Friday, May 16th. Remind your child(ren) that they are doing something really important for their school! Go IVE! The Walk-a-thon is the largest PTA fundraiser for 2008! It helps raise money for important things like classroom materials, science and art docent programs, computer lab equipment and software, field trips, library books, playground equipment and more. Have your child(ren) wear their WAT t-shirts as they collect pledges. Talk to them about the WAT and how they can make a difference in their school! Please review ALL of the information on the pledge envelopes, and remember, many companies have corporate matching programs (e.g. Boeing, Microsoft, Cisco, Safeco, WaMu, Home Depot, Starbucks, Nintendo, etc.). Most importantly, never let them go alone, safety is our utmost concern as they participate in this wonderful event. IMS Panther Passage - Volunteers Needed
Volunteers Needed for the Issaquah Middle School Panther Passage (formerly known as Spring Forum). Are you curious about the changes you and your child will experience with the transition to Middle School? Volunteering at Panther Passage provides a great opportunity for you to get a glimpse into the wonderful IMS community of students, staff and parents. Panther Passage is a long-standing IMS program where eighth graders present a portfolio of their middle school achievements to community listeners (validators). This year’s Panther Passage will be held from May 19 through June 6 at IMS during school hours. We invite you to visit the IMS website at www.ims.issaquah.wednet.edu and click on the Panther Passage link to volunteer or to learn more about this rewarding program.
