Board Positions

 President The leader of the IVE PTA and the board. Works closely with board members and school staff to ensure events and programs meet the goals and objectives set forth in our charter. Acts as a liaison between the council and our local unit. Ensures our legal entity remains in good standing at all levels. 
VP of Communications Manages all aspects of the distribution of communication for the IVE PTA. Ensures the eNews, email distribution, website, Facebook and paper communications include relevant and up to date information for our community. Collaborates with board and committee chairs to receive content representative of all PTA programs. 
Secretary Documents all board and general membership meetings. Ensures meeting minutes are accurate and available to the general membership.
Treasurer Handles the finances of the IVE PTA. Processes checks, deposits, federal and state registrations and filings. Oversees the creation and maintenance of the budget. Works closely with committee chairs and school staff.
Director of Fundraising Oversees all fundraising activities. Implements or modifies fundraising activities as needed.
Director at Large Acts as general guidance and gives input or historical perspective regarding events and programs.
Family & Community Engagement Chair (FACE) A focus on building and fostering important relationships between parents, schools, and the community in order to better serve all students. Provides accessible support system between school and community resources and families.
Membership Chair Promote and organize our membership drive each Fall to ensure 100% membership. Process forms, payments and data entry into the WA State PTA membership database.
Volunteer Coordinator Coordinates, recruits, organizes and trains volunteers as needed for PTA events and programs.

 

Committee Chairs

 

Angel Program  The Angel Program assists children in need of basic necessities. Students who need extra support are paired with anonymous sponsors, known as “angels”. The Angel coordinator matches these students with their angels and manages all aspects of the program.
Art Docent The Art Docent Program is volunteer led art instruction. Docents teach art once a month in students’ classrooms K-5th grade. The Art Docent Chairs provide materials and support for art instruction including clay, collage, painting, sculpture, and more.
Auction Every other year, the PTA hosts an auction to raise money for IVE programs and events as well as special projects. It is because of our successful auctions, that the PTA has been able to sponsor the IVE Playground, the Leveled Book Room and the Fish on the Fence.
Bingo Once a year, organize this much loved community and fundraising event. Procure prizes and refreshments and assign "callers" for this very fun evening. 
Book Fairs Organize the Fall & Spring Scholastic Book Fairs which take place at IVE. Work with the Scholastic Rep and the school to plan the event. Organize volunteers and book fair happenings including the Family Fun Night and Special Friends Lunch. 
Box Tops & Labels Organize the Box Tops & Labels for the school. Clip, sort & count the labels and mail them in according to the deadline. Organize classroom competition and prizes. 
Camp Orkila Each year, 5th grade students attend camp for three days and two nights in June. At camp, students are instructed in various environmental and team building exercises. The chairperson/co-chairs distribute paperwork, raise and collect funds, reserve transportation and organize chaperones for the weekend.
Culture Fair This every other year event is a community favorite. Our IVE families share their rich diversity and cultural heritage through food, dance and song. All are welcome at this free and fabulous event. The chairperson organizes the event, the main entertainment and the booths.
Dads/Dudes at Recess (DIVE) This program provides valuable male role models for IVE students that are representatives of our student population. Work with Faculty DIVE Program Chair to recruit and organize volunteers to engage with students at recess. 
Engineering Night The Chair plans activities and coordinates volunteers to demonstrate and lead a series of fun hands-on experiments designed to introduce kids to engineering.
Enrichment The PTA offers a variety of after school enrichment programs, most of which are run by professionals. The Chair explores and vets these programs, then forwards the information to the district facilities coordinator.
Fun Run This Spring fundraiser is a kid favorite. Work with the company Orange Ruler to facilitate the event as well as follow up with award days. Work closely with the IVE staff to coordinate activities before and after the run.
Golden Acorn/Outstanding Educator The Golden Acorn Award honors people who have given exemplary volunteer service to children and youth in our school community. Last Year's winners solicit nominations and organize the Golden Acorn and Outstanding Educator Awards.
Holiday Choir Coordinate songs and lead rehearsals with Kindergarten - 2nd graders for this festive December event.
ISF Representative The ISF representative is IVE's liaison to the Issaquah Schools Foundation. The ISF Rep promotes the foundation's message and recruits volunteers for associated activities and initiatives.
Legislation  Keeps the board and general membership informed of local and state legislation taking place in regards to the education system. Attends convention and any other relevant events.
Matching Gifts Coordinator Market and promote the companies that provide matching donations. Verify donations for the companies that are providing the matching funds. Ensure the matching dollars that are submitted are received and deposited.
Math Adventure Coordinator Help organize the Math Adventures nights. This person represents IVE and its teams. Assist coaches and team members to prepare for adventure nights.
Popcorn Students love Popcorn Fridays! The Chair coordinates volunteers to distribute popcorn on the last Friday of each month during recess.
Reflections Reflections is a National PTA art program. Each year, students are recognized for bringing the theme to life through dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts. The Chair promotes this program at IVE, facilitates entries and chooses award winners. The Chair will also assist in organizing the Hands on Art Night to honor our reflection participants.
Room Parent Coordinator and Teacher Liaison Creates an email list of all room parents. Throughout the school year, the coordinator forwards emails about upcoming programs and volunteer needs to designated room parents. Works with room parents and teachers to encourage family participation in events and programs. 
Salmon Days Parking During Salmon Days, the PTA offers parking at the admin building and on our playground. The chairs or co-chairs organize volunteers to collect money and direct cars.
Science Fair The Science Fair Chair facilitates science fair entries for all grade levels and organizes Science Fair Night.
Spirit Wear The Spirit Wear Chair promotes and sells IVE t-shirts, sweatshirts etc. during the school year.
Staff Appreciation  The Staff Appreciation Chair plans and organizes staff appreciation activities through out the year to thank IVE's fabulous teachers and staff. Chair will organize volunteers to bring various items for these events. 
Trunk or Treat This is an evening of safe, family friendly Halloween fun. Organize volunteer families to decorate their cars and pass out candy in the IVE Parking Lot in October. 
Variety Show Organize this mid-year show filled with singing, poems, dancing, skits and much more for grades 1-5.
Vision and Hearing Screening For IVE Vision & Hearing Testing Day, the Chair provides 30 volunteers to assist the school nurse with testing. 
Yearbook Work with the photo company as well as parents/photographers to gather, organize and create this much loved annual keepsake.
5th Grade Reception IVE holds a small graduation for our 5th graders moving on to middle school. Following the ceremony, volunteers provide and serve refreshments.
